Viewing psychology as an individuating tool of capitalism and imperialism is something that seems like a common critique in the left spaces that frequent.

My question then is, what place, role, or use is or will there be for psychology through a materialist, anti-capitalist lense? Surely there would be some role for psychology in a post-capitalist world?

Or am I asking the wrong question?

I completely believe that there would be such a role for psychology. The more awkward question at the moment, however, is to understand how psychology can be used to prevent any anti-capitalist question. Everything else follows from that.

Interesting read for someone on the verge of their Masters in Counselling. And yet, this notion of the social being alienated by individuated diagnosis runs a lil dry in book. Considering, of course, that therapy is itd own social organism--not to mention, like, there's more than one school of psychology (and not all of them are limited to the solo client/therapist/neurobio model). But I see what your saying. I also love this theory of the Limit, Zizek got me in that too.

Makes me think!
